Morro bay campaign
For this project, I was given the task to choose a location nearby and create promotional campaign. I chose Morro Bay, more specifically its Farmers Market every Saturday. I wanted to capture key details of Morro Bay using illustration but add aspects that are specific to Saturdays. I created a brochure and postcard that people can pick up in Morro Bay or get from a shop in any town to draw attention and navigate “a Saturday off the 1”.
My Process
I began by researching my location as if I knew nothing about it. I looked for things that stood out to me, like the market, food, live music, nice views, easy drive, and free parking. I then used those ideas to create sketches and started experimenting with colors and typography.
Getting a better picture
From my sketches, I knew I wanted to take some photos of the location to better see what it really offers, even if I ended up using illustrations later. This helped me figure out what stands out the most.
Research and Sketches
I eventually developed a final sketch and catchy phrase, which I turned into a sticker-style design that's featured throughout my entire campaign. I also refined the design using a color palette I had developed during my earlier experimentation, using that to create my brochure and postcard.
